A brief history of Devil-themed songs of the 1910s, followed by my rendition of Irving Berlin’s “The Devil Has Bought Up All The Coal” (1918), in honor of Veterans Day 2018. I’ve never heard anybody else perform or record this song; I learned it myself from the sheet music after finding it on the Library of Congress website. The song itself is old enough to be in the public domain. —Magister Bill M.
On the 100th Anniversary of the End of World War I I take time today to share with many the contemplation of the conclusion of that immense conflict. World War I demonstrated human tribalism’s most deadly activity—war on a global scale, enhanced by technology to escalate carnage to an unprecedented level. When nations with adversarial cultures, ideologies, and territorial goals cannot coexist, war is the procedure that shatters tenuous balances that then shapes the future paths of all concerned—the ones who survive the devastation. Diplomacy is a dance that attempts to direct the flux of antagonistic nationalisms, but history demonstrates […]
Recently, The Satanic Temple has filed a suit against Netflix over a depiction of the symbolic deity Baphomet in their series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. As a significant number of people seem to be confusing this with us, we would like to clarify that TST is a political activist group that has nothing to do with us, nor with the religion of Satanism which we founded over 50 years ago. The Church of Satan has not filed a suit against Netflix, nor do we have a problem with their Sabrina show, which we’ve previously discussed. Regarding the suit itself, while […]

Sit down again with the Escapologist as she discusses the origins of the werewolf myth—how it differs from Lycanthropy and its links to the witch trials. She tells the tale of Peter Stumpp and of Rougarou in Cajun folklore. Myths, Legends and Monsters – The Big Bad Wolf
The Sinister Screen was first launched in February of 2005 as a project of the now-defunct Church of Satan Special Interest Groups. Since then, it had become an independent forum for movies of general interest to Satanists and others of like-mind. The site took a long hiatus but has returned with a revamped format. Review submission requests are open to Church of Satan members only and we will verify your membership before approval. All reviews must be focused, well-written, and reasonably connected to Satanism and the Satanic philosophy. As of present, discussion privileges have been and will continue to be […]
