Newsweek recently ran an article entitled “The Bible: So Misunderstood It’s a Sin” which looked at how mistranslated their Bible is; how the story of Jesus was added to and revised by scribes, emperors, and committees hundreds of years after the supposed events took place; and how disagreements on the “Holy Word” lead to bloodshed. As the American revolution was underway and having made a clean break from the Church of England, the Founding Fathers drafted a radical new concept in the US Constitution, America’s founding social contract. It would completely eliminate ties between religion and state while paradoxically ensuring that all beliefs and opinions could be protected through the law.
