Available now, a new expanded edition of Lucifer’s Lexicon by L.A. Rollins. Purchase from Amazon, Nine-Banded Books or Underworld Amusements. Inspired by Ambrose Bierce’s The Devil’s Dictionary, Louis Andrew Rollins first unsheathed his lexicographer’s lance in the pages of marginal political periodicals during the mid-1980s. At a time when Objectivist orthodoxy and Cold War political theater dominated libertarian discourse, Rollins’ distinctive brand of irreverent irony stood out. He skewered shibboleths and dethroned dogmas from all quarters, and his trenchant jeu de mots made a lasting impression in the minds of many readers. In 1987, Loompanics Unlimited released the first edition of Lucifer’s Lexicon, […]
“Vodka!” Here’s a new show that was recorded several months ago and has sat festering in the MBR archives awaiting to receive a bloody good editing. Well, that’s just what it got because the boys were somewhat drunk on this one (except Bob, coz he’s a swot) as they had been recording an episode previously to this. And obviously beer was involved. Dave, Kent and Swotty Bob bring a selection of submitted bands, and a few tracks of indulgence, while Mark does his business in the middle of the show. Hopefully one of the lads brought a mop and bucket. […]

Patrick McCray at the Dark Shadows website The Collinsport Historical Society had this to say about American Horror Story’s depiction of Anton LaVey: In the most recent episode of American Horror Story, Church of Satan founder, Anton LaVey, is portrayed as one of the villains, literally worshiping the devil, consorting with the fictitious bad guys, and establishing himself as a force of evil in that supernatural universe. None of this, of course, is accurate or even tangentially related to reality. LaVey was a lot of things, and there is still alleged controversy over the verisimilitude of his official biography, but the man was a solid atheist, […]

I had ceased watching American Horror Story after its third season since experiencing its incoherent plotting and inconsistent writing I found a waste of my time. Granted, there are some striking visuals and the acting of people like Jessica Lange, Frances Conroy and Sarah Paulson is exemplary (others, not so much). However, in this eighth season, a mashup of earlier seasons now spinning a yarn about the aftermath of a nuclear war caused by the Anti-Christ, I had to sit through an episode as it mentioned the organization I’ve been running for over 17 years, and its founder, Anton Szandor […]
