Our own Reverend Moore was interviewed for an episode of the show listed below to be broadcast tomorrow on The History Channel.

From the description below reposted from their show guide, we suspect that Reverend Moore’s sage words will be cut to a minimum and that there will instead be featured blatherings from an array of kooks and devil worshippers to present what we would consider to be lurid trash TV rather than a thoughtful examination of what actual Satanists might think. His answer to the final question of the description is not one that those who enjoy living in fear would want to hear.

A “Happy Halloween!” to true Satanists the world over.

Magus Gilmore’s perspective concerning this holiday has become a tradition for our site:

Tonight is the night when the mundane folk try to reach down inside and touch the darkness—which for we Satanists is a daily mode of existence. Particularly in the United States, Halloween is a time for celebrating “monster films,” wearing costumes of a macabre nature, and evoking the thrill of “fun fear.” Children of all ages can indulge their fantasies by donning garb that allows for intense role playing and the release of those demonic cores, oft-hidden in the oubliettes of their psyches.

Though there are traditions which make this an occasion for recalling the dead, it has been popularized as a time to play with what historically were fears directed towards the unquiet spirits of the departed. And the grand traditional question “Trick or treat?” has become a means for fulfilling an indulgence in sweets, without the need to resort to the optional coercion. We embrace what this holiday has become, and do not feel the need to be tied to ancient practices. This night, Satanists smile at the amateur explorers of their own inner darkness, for we know that they enjoy their brief dip into the pool of the “shadow world.” So on this eve of magic and mystery, we encourage their tenebrous fantasies, the candied indulgence, and the wide-ranging evocation of our aesthetics (while tolerating some of the chintzy versions), even if it is but once per annum. At other times of the year, when those not of our tribe shake their heads in wonder at us, we can point out that they may find some understanding by examining their own All Hallows Eve doings, as an alternative to our recent favored saying: “We’re just part of the Addams clan.”

So, have an indulgent, mysterious, and deeply satisfying Samhain!

He revives the legends of Satan’s ostracism, the Fall of Man and the expulsion from Paradise without slavishly abiding by the plot of the original text. “On the First Anniversary of 9/11”

Today is a day of remembrance. Many individuals are recalling relatives and friends who were murdered by terrorists a year ago today in the attacks on the Pentagonand the World Trade Center. Satanists understand and deeply empathize with their grief, as undeserved loss of life is a tragic part of human existence that can touch us all. Our hearts are with them.

However, we also remember something of greater significance. We understand that the source of this day of mourning is the conviction, held by fundamentalist fanatics, that any act of violence against those who do not share their devotion is championed by their God. The events of 9/11 are absolute proof of the danger of such spiritual belief systems, which maintain that only certain individuals have a direct connection to a deity, and that any who do not agree with their “truth” are to be seen as less-than-human, a threat to their “faith” which supernaturally sanctions their extermination.

While the sanctimonious of many spiritual religions will enter their sacred spaces today, thanking their God or Gods for acts of heroism performed by valiant individuals in response to that tragedy, they will smugly forget that their God did nothing to prevent these human-initiated disasters. Responsibility for what they deem to be good is assigned to their deity, while responsibility for what is deemed evil must, in their limited view, originate elsewhere, and probably from those holding different beliefs. They will fail to see that such a perspective is one shared by the terrorists. More significant than that, these people will also fail to recall that, over the centuries, far more people have been slaughtered by the followers of spiritual religions—including their own—than were killed by the Islamic terrorists on September 11 of 2001. There is blood on the hands of the ancestors of those who pray in their sanctuaries today, and that is a fact they should appreciate as fully as do we. Millions have died because fanatical worshippers refused to allow that values other than their own might have validity for those who hold them.

We Satanists, as well as others who grasp the importance of maintaining a secular society which allows for diversity of belief and non-belief, will recall this grim truth today. Fundamentalist fanatics, regardless of which deity they worship, are the greatest threat to human freedom in our civilization. September 11th should be sustained as a worldwide memorial to their victims, past and present. Remember this day in fury. Bow not your heads in prayerful attitude, but raise your chins in defiance. Hear the brazen clangor of the funerary bell. It shatters complacence, serving as memorial and as tocsin. We shall not forgive nor shall we forget.

To Whom It May Concern:

Please be advised that today, August 19, 2009, I received word from High Priest Peter H. Gilmore at the Church of Satan’s Central Office. My resignation from the Church of Satan and the Priesthood of Mendes has been officially accepted.

I sent in my Red Card and my Priesthood certificate for strictly philosophical reasons. I left the organization on good terms and with mutual respect, from and for, the Church of Satan administration.

Satanism advertises itself as a Promethean religion. For me, this has undeniably been the case. As a direct result of my involvement in the Church of Satan, I was introduced to ideas, literature and artworks that have enriched my life and transformed my perception of the world. This is undeniable. I have seen things that can’t be unseen, and learned things which cannot be unlearned. Many of the ideas that resonated with me in Satanic philosophy continue to drive my creative work. Furthermore, I have received advice, encouragement, constructive criticism, and support from members of the Church of Satan hierarchy and membership that has been of inestimable value.

There is certainly a great deal of overlap and shared understanding when it comes to my own evolving philosophy and the religio-philosophy of Satanism. But for a while now, there’s been a growing chasm of disagreement between the two. It is small, but significant—especially in certain areas that have become very important to me personally.

I have no desire to offer a public criticism of Satanism. It was right for me until it wasn’t. Satanism changed me, but eventually it pointed me in a direction that caused me to evolve into a man who could no longer in good faith identify himself as a Satanist.

If I had not been a “public Satanist,” I might simply have held onto my card and my title as keepsakes. But as I have represented The Church of Satan several times in the media, it is necessary to make a clean break so that I can explore new directions without constantly having to justify that association.

I will always be something of a “fellow traveler.” But I have reached a point where I have to go my own way and bid Satanism farewell. I’ll be sure to tip my hat whenever Old Scratch crosses my path.

I would like to sincerely thank High Priest Peter H. Gilmore and High Priestess Peggy Nadramia for all of their assistance. They do a bang-up job running the show and are both real class acts. I continue to consider them friends and wish them the very best. I would also like to thank all of the many members of The Church of Satan who have earnestly supported me and my work over the years, especially including members of the hierarchy who I won’t list here for fear of forgetting someone.

To those who have no genuine interest in my work and who only value my title and association with the organization, I trust that you will no longer have reason to seek, or pretend to seek, my friendship or favor.

To those who truly find my work interesting or who know me personally, I hope my dis-affiliation doesn’t dissuade you from following my projects or maintaining our association. I will certainly continue to associate with and follow the lives and the work of those Satanists who have earned my friendship and respect.

As the saying goes: “Champagne for my real friends, real pain for my sham friends.”

So it is done.

PURGING TALON PRODUCES ITS FIRST PODCAST—TERROR TRANSMISSION

The Vermont-based media company, Purging Talon, known for its caustic and controversial output throughout its almost 16-year history, has released the first episode of its all-new podcast, known as Terror Transmission.

Terror Transmission is a free podcast program dedicated to horror cinema, particularly classics of the genre and/or those hidden gems begging for rediscovery. Each episode, your hosts will select a film and view it, while providing listeners with real-time commentary, behind-the-scenes ephemera, and a dash of ribald humor. This creepy cocktail will then be edited down to its best elements and presented to you. Other material related to the world of horror will also be featured when deemed applicable.

Terror Transmission is hosted by Matt G. Paradise and Jason B. Andreasson. Paradise, Executive Director of Purging Talon, is both producer and co-host of the show. An avid horror fan for four decades, Paradise’s knowledge of the genre is extensive. KC Artist Featured For St Louis Gallery Surrealist Exhibition

Kansas City underground artist, V Holecek, will be featured as the the centerpiece at the Soulard Art Market and Contemporary Art Gallery's surrealist art exhibit, running the weekend of August 15th, in the historic Soulard district of Saint Louis, Missouri. Pieces from his 2008 and 2009 collections will be on display as the main event on the evening of the 15th. For those new to his works, V Holecek works almost exclusively in colored pencil, with the most recent collections being done entirely on dark backgrounds to, a process not entirely unlike scratchboard. His subjects have an industrial and surrealist edge, borrowing elements of biomechanics, and integrating various psychological concepts. Blood-brotherhoods and similar rites have been employed by men to mark friendships and alliances for thousands of years. Evidence of the practice can be found in the lore, literature and recorded history of most cultures—from Norse and Celtic mythologies to the tribes of Africa, Australian and the South Pacific, to the fiction of Jack London and Mark Twain.

Today, many homosexual men are adopting and adapting marriage rites and relationship ideals that were designed to unite males and females, and which remain steeped in millennia of culture, tradition and imagery inspired by heterosexual unions. Blood-Brotherhood offers an alternative mode of perception: why not remove the feminine element and the trappings of heterosexual romance from the equation altogether and model bonds between androphiles after the bonds that men have made between each other for thousands of years? Why not base these unique unions between men on a tradition that honors male friendship?

Blood-brotherhood is not an attempt to “homosexualize” history or to “homoeroticize” the practice of blood-brotherhood, which has traditionally been practiced between heterosexual male friends. Rather, it is an attempt to inspire homosexual men to think about and solemnize their relationships differently—no matter what legal arrangements they decide to make.

Blood-Brotherhood serves as a toolbox for the imagination, containing a wealth of research about blood-brotherhood myths and practices from a wide variety of cultures and time periods, including excerpted texts and original translations by Nathan F. Miller. This information has never been collected together in even a remotely similar form. There have been very few books written about the subject and none are readily available. Here is, in a sense, a compendium of “occult” data. A follow-up to Androphilia: A Manifesto, Blood-brotherhood also documents Jack Donovan’s own bond with his compadre in a unique blood-brotherhood rite, presented as modern adaptation of this ancient ritual.

It’s an acid pastoral in suspended time with occasional references to Scriabin’s Poem of Ecstasy.

Thus, ever more of our fellows—the only true Satanists—stand forth to shatter herd misconceptions, blast the daffy devil worshippers and the spiritually obsessed, while providing a source of envy for all who must look on our richly fulfilling lives and be but bereft spectators. Today we celebrate the anniversary of the birth of
Magus Anton Szandor LaVey.

Hail Doktor!

Anton LaVey gave us all a marvelous gift in his creation of the world’s first carnal religion.

Unlike the rest of existing creeds, his philosophy is devoid of the spiritual. He did not claim to be Satan’s emissary. He did not tell us to seek congress with “higher powers” or supernatural intelligences. Instead, he had the boldness to sweep away all deities and hierarchies of mythological beings, leaving each Satanist alone, but as his or her own god, and what an exhilarating position that is to be in!

And this set of ideas reflects the nature of the Satanist, which means never to be attracted to the myriad flavors of belief systems that have always been the crutch needed by the majority of the human race. The Satanist from birth has a maturity which does not require supernatural or governmental parental figures. We view with pity those seekers after succor from non-existing beings. There will always be humans eager to take advantage of that weakness and they’ll fashion creeds galore for those poor saps.

During that “occult explosion” of the 1960s, the Church of Satan was unique in its rock-solid rejection of faith. Dr. LaVey was no guru looking to sell self-abnegation and submissiveness to “divine” or “infernal” authority. Instead he challenged the daring few to hold dominion over their destinies. And as the founder and leader of what quickly became a worldwide movement, unlike others, he did not become drunk with power, nor did he demand that his colleagues must parrot his aesthetics. He offered those brave enough to share with him the label “Satanist” the freedom to cultivate their own proclivities, and that is truly a rare achievement. His epiphany was one of singularity—that we each stand solitary and must take command of our lives by being our own Gods. That is for the valiant few to whom it comes naturally.

On this day we too stand, each alone but in glorious concert, with those who share our audacity and exhibit the hallmarks of being a Satanist—faithless and proud, as was Dr. LaVey at the founding of the Church of Satan.

We salute you, dear departed Magus, and offer to you in return our greatest possible tribute, the gift of our creations which are wrought with the breadth of our inventiveness expressing the range of our individuality.

Nothing would have made him prouder than to see you all in the exquisite fecundity of your productivity.

For over forty years, delusional and lying Christians have accused Satanists of committing all manner of atrocities toward children without any evidence. This is ironic considering the pervasive occurrence of prolonged systematic child abuse among the various Christian churches and denominations, and among others abusing positions of trust in the Jewish and Islamic Synagogues and Mosques.

Enough hypocrisy. We all know who the sick, deranged child abusers really are: the sanctimonious frauds of the Judeo-Christian-Islamic traditions.

In fact, you could go so far as to say that child abuse IS a Judeo-Christian-Islamic tradition!
This blog, founded by Magister Svengali, is now administered by Priestess Magda Graham. It consists almost entirely of newspaper articles telling of christian priests convicted of child abuse and churches going bankrupt as they are ordered to pay damages to victims. We have only been running a few months and, to date, we have 103 items; 19 added in March 2009.

The rotten edifice is crumbling.

SCHLITZE’S DAY:
A RESOUNDING SUCCESS!

Grave Marker for Schlitzie Surtees

On February 20, 2009, a group of friends from www.findadeath.com got together to hold a memorial service for Schlitze the Pinhead, who’s earthly remains lay in an unmarked grave for nearly 40 years. Nearly four hundred dollars—to get Schlitze his marker.

Early Friday morning (20th) they enjoyed breakfast at Dupar’s (Farmers Market location in Hollywood, California,) then it was off to the cemetery in Scott Michael’s Dearly Departed special funeral tours van. In addition to being the creator of findadeath, Scott runs one of the most successful tour services in Southern California.

Following a beautiful journey to Queen Of Heaven Cemetery in Rowland Heights, California where Schlitze’s remains are interred in a now-marked grave (see photo above), those in attendance dressed the gravesight in beautiful floral arrangements, and the Reverend Bryan Moore of the Church of Satan—himself an enormous Schlitze fan and historian—magnificently delivered an extremely well-constructed eulogy accompanied by a brief, emotional tribute to Schlitze by writer-composer-musician-producer Verne Langdon, who actually met, observed and knew Schlitze.

~SCHLITZEPHILES ONE & ALL~
Following nearly an hour attending the service and enjoying photo ops at the Schlitze gravesight, the group of nearly 30 Schlitzephiles from all over the United States proceeded to world-famous downtown Los Angeles’ local eatery Philippe’s. Philippe’s was a part of Schlitze’s life in that he—along with other members of the legendary Paul Eagles Circus & Carnival Club—dined there often when wintering in Southern California. Following Philippe’s it was on to hallowed haunts of Schlitze, including MacArthur Park in downtown Los Angeles where Schlitze woud chase the ducks and his caretakers would sell his never-ending supply of souvenir photos from Schlitze’s glory days on the various carnival midways. Schlitze's last known residence as verified on his official certificate of death, and of course the county care facility—Fountain View—in Hollywood, California, where Schlitze spent 48 hours or so before expiring on September 24, 1971, of broncho pneumonia brought on by medullary depression.

The day was memorable for so many reasons, and may turn into an annual event, held on the 20th of February each and every year, the day we have come to know and love as “Schlitze's Day”!

He had no choice, so—I don't know how to express it about him but he—he just wasn’t able to do anything else. Quite often you would get a crowd that thought they were funny, that they were funny and they would torment him or something like that but usually there were some roustabouts around that would see that that was broken up in a hurry and they were not allowed to torment him.”

Author and veteran punk drummer Joel Gausten (Pigface/Electric Frankenstein/The

Rocks (Rockford, Il) this Wednesday, February 4 at 5pm central time. He will be
discussing his latest book, “Words From The Third Side: Essays on Sex, Satan &
Success” and answering general questions about Satanism and the practices of the Church

An autobiographical tale, “Words From The Third Side” chronicles Gausten’s
experiences as a longtime member of the Church of Satan as well as his memorable run-

How often does a small gallery host work in an ancient tradition that flourishes in its own backyard? (well, at least in its home state?) The hex signs of the so called “Pennsylvania Dutch” are part of American lore, as mythically synonymous with Pennsylvania as the Liberty Bell, shoo-fly pie and Joe Paterno. But their magical significance goes well beyond mere decoration. “Deitsch” is the word in dialect for Pennsylvania German. “Heathen” refers to Germanic Heathenry, or the religion/culture of the indigenous European tribes prior to Christianity. “Hexology” is the magical practice of painting “Hex signs,” known in the PA German dialect as “Hexafoos” or “Hexezeeche.” The translation would be “witch feet” or “witch signs.”

Hunter and Valúlfr will also be available to sign copies of Hunter’s HEXOLOGY CALENDAR, Valúlfr’s CORPUS RUNICA and the latest issue of HEX MAGAZINE, to which they both contributed articles!

The video for the song was filmed at the Black House Hudson and features Reverend Netherworld and his partner-in-crime Mistress Harlequinn as a sadistic Doctor and Nurse. Always a fixture on the independent music scene, Darren Deicide would ultimately ramble his way to New Jersey. There he initiated Ever Reviled Records, a collectively owned and run record label that releases counter-cultural music, and became vocalist/guitarist for the now defunct, politically-charged rock band Hopeless Dregs of Humanity from whose remnants emerged his solo project. He maintains a continuous touring schedule and has played with a diverse array of notable artists all over the American east coast, south, and midwest that has spanned from Dead Prez to Danny and the Juniors. He's played on Fox 5's "Good Day New York" as a featured artist on the Make Music New York festival. He is also a columnist for The Aquarian Weekly where his column, 'Agent Provocateur', affirms his reputation as a firebrand.
